Bauru City
Bauru City was established in 1896 and is geographically located in Midwestern region of the state of São Paulo, Southeast of Brasil, with a population of 366,992 (2015 est.) inhabitants distributed in an area of 667.68 km². The city's location at the junction of three railroads and three highways make Bauru a major urban center of the State of São Paulo. Bauru is a trade centre for an agricultural region (fruits, peanuts [groundnuts], rice, feijão [beans], and corn [maize]) and is also a manufacturing centre, producing textiles, ceramics, furniture, plastics, and other goods. Bauru is also characterised by the presence of a strong service sector, many college campuses including the University of São Paulo and University Estadual Paulista. Bauru is the town where Pelé, famous footballer, grew up and learned his football skills.
Initially, all 6-8 year old schoolchildren enrolled in two selected schools in Bauru, one serving the ‘Bairro Jardim TV’ and the other serving ‘Bairro Jardim Vitoria’ will implement the AHi HPS model.
