The University of Brasilia in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Department of Education are implementing and assessing the Affordable Health Initiative in Brasilia, Brasil, initially in two schools serving the Estrutural low-income community. 

 
 

Acceptability

The acceptability of the Affordable Health Initiative (AHI) Health Promotion School (HPS) model among stakeholders providers was agreeable. The Department of Health (DoH) and the Department of Education (DoE) of Distrito Federal agreed with the implementation of AFI HPS model and showed great enthusiasm in supporting this initiative. The school headteachers of the two schools selected to implement the initiative also enthusiastically agreed to support the implementation of the AHI HPS model.

Adoption

The adoption of the Affordable Health Initiative (AHI) Health Promotion School (HPS) model among stakeholders and providers was fenomenal. All showed strong intention to support and contribute to the implementation of the AHI HPS model. The DoH took the decision to allocated five health professionals to help running the AHI HPS model, and the DoE took the decision to allow school educators to use their time to deliver the education for health components of the AHI HPS model.
